Dr. Reed

There aren’t many times in life that you will meet a person that is very smart as well as very caring.  When you bring your animal to a veterinarian, did you ever think how much time and education that vet had to go through before he or she could work on your animal?  Well let me tell you of a very special vet. 

His name is Dr. Lawrence Reed.  He has been in the business since 1974.  We have taken all of our animals to him.  We have even brought  injured wild birds, squirrels, flying squirrels, frogs and even a turtle to Dr. Reed who would nurse them back to health for no charge.  He will help any animal that needs his help.  Dr. Reed is a vet that loves all types of animals.

If you ever go by his office, look on the side of his building and see all the animals that Dr. Reed has in the fenced yard.  Many of these are animals no one wanted or injured wildlife, but Dr. Reed took them in and takes very good care of them.  He has a heart that is made of gold. He has organizations that bring animals to him and Dr. Reed will take care of them with as much care as he would give a paying person for no charge. Dr. Reed doesn’t care who you are, what you do, or how much money you may have.  He will love your animal all the same.  Whenever you go to see Dr. Reed, he will always enter the room with a big smile.

One day Dr. Reed was feeding a rattlesnake when he turned his head to talk to one of the workers.  The snake jumped up and bit his finger.  They called an ambulance and took him to the hospital.  The hospital couldn’t help him because they did not have the anti-venom for that kind of snake bite.  They called a helicopter to fly him to another hospital that did have the anti-venom.  He was fine in the end, except had a very sore thumb for a long time. 

Now as you know, Dr. Reed is a person who loves all animals, so even after he was bitten, he still kept the rattlesnake.  He said it was his own fault because he wasn’t paying attention to what he was doing, so he kept the snake and took very good care of him.  How many people would do that?

I think you are getting to see just what a wonderful and loving vet Dr. Reed is.  Dr. Reed probably doesn’t even want anyone writing about him because he is humble, but after all the years of work and love he has given to the animals, his story deserves to be heard so other people can know of him. I think we should call Dr. Reed “Saint Dr. Reed” because he has done so many good things for so many animals that he is a saint!   May Dr. Reed continue to keep doing his work and may God bless and keep him safe for many, many more years.
